Wedding Pictures

Here are some of the pictures from my sisters wedding - these are from her photographers blog.
Her photographer was super sweet. I think she took great pictures - so if you are looking for a photographer in the Utah area... and she does more than just weddings.
She is also willing to travel~ : )

I have put - well still am putting together an Emergency Preparedness blog for my ward. Click Here to view the blog - I can't say that the ideas are all mine, I have been finding them all over the Internet, but mostly from Providentliving.org.
If you have any ideas for me to post, I would LOVE your input, or if you have stories to share how you have prepared your kits, home storage and then had to use it, I would like to post about that too.

Poison Control

Miss A is a VERY oral baby - everything goes into her mouth, doesn't matter what. Today while I was packing the diaper bag - getting ready for work I had a strong feeling to check on Miss A. Good thing I did - in her mouth was a little bag of silica. The ones found in packages of shoes, beef jerky - I guess it is to keep things fresh? Where did she find that!?!?!
So after scooping it out of her mouth and feeling around to make sure I had gotten it all out, I called Poison Control
(just in case you need it the number is 1-800-222-1222). The nice calm man reassured me that she was perfectly fine, they are not toxic the concern is more that it is a choking hazard.
PHEW!
He then had to fill out a report on the incident , I expect them to be showing up at my door anytime,
guess I won't be winning that mother of the year award this year...

4 days...

I have had this horrible headache for 4 days now!!!
4 days!
Make it go away!!!!

Quote of the week

I have heard this quote before and just came across it again - how true it is!

"When life's problems seem overwhelming,

look around and see what other people
are coping with. You may consider
yourself fortunate."

And All I Could Do Was Cry...

We are still in Utah - today my Mom went and had her nails done. As we were waiting there Miss M was looking at the nails they had on display and was counting them. And then picking out all the designs she would like to have. I noticed that Miss A had a poopy diaper so started to take her out of the nail place to change it. I was at the door waiting for Miss M to come when one of the workers got up from her station walked over to Miss M, slapped her and told her to not touch the nails. That's right SLAPPED HER! I was totally shocked and pissed (sorry for the bad word, but that is the only way I can describe my feelings) I just stared at the lady. Not a shocked stare but a stare of complete - well maybe what a mother bear looks like when you cross her cub.
I asked my Mom if she just hit Miss M. She nodded yes, my mom seemed just as shocked as I was. Then K came into the store and I told him to get Miss M - he just thought she was crying because I was taking her out of the store. I said in a LOUD voice, Get her Out of here, we are NEVER coming back to the store again. That is when the manager looked up and noticed a customer was upset... He said he would come out and talk to us in a minute. The child slapper, just gave me a big smile. As I was walking out with K, I told him what happened. He said WHAT!?!?! Why didn't you say something to me. And then I started crying. Because when I get that upset, that is about all I can do. The manager came out to talk to us to see what was going on, because he had missed the whole thing. I told him what I had seen. And he apologized over and over. And asked if we wanted the child slapper to come and apologize, he would go in and talk with her and give me a few minutes to calm down. I guess because at this point I was pretty upset and my voice was raised and people were starting to stare... He came back out with my mom and told me that the child slapper had just "tapped" Miss M on the hand. But he still said that that was not ok in anyway. This is when I noticed the Child Slapper standing by the door with another employee looking my way and LAUGHING - LAUGHING!?!? Can I just say at that point I wanted to go slap her in the face! And again all I could do was sit there and cry. Then I was mad at myself, because the only thing I could do was CRY?!?! When every other part of me wanted to be that Mama Bear and defend her cub! I will never ever get my pedicure or manicure from that nail place again - and this is always a tradition when I come to Utah for my mom and sisters to get our nails done there I mean they even remember me... K said, we will never spend another penny there again. But thanked the manager for trying to make it better. And I agree he did handle it the best he could, with out seeing what had happened. He even offered to fire the child slapper... Has this ever happened to you? How could I have handled it different? - my sisters (who were not there) told me I should have slapped her, I should have called the mall security... but nope, all I could do was cry...

Happy Mother's Day

Thanks Miss M and Miss A - for giving me my favorite title - MOM!

To all the Mom's, Grandma's, Aunties, Girls, Friends, Women, Sisters in my life, I hope you know how special you are! Happy Mother's day.

I have heard this poem a lot, but thought I would post it, I just love it!!

Before I was a Mom

I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.

I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.

I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom -

I had never been puked on.

Pooped on.

Chewed on.

Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.

I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom

I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.

Or give shots.

I never looked into teary eyes and cried.

I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom

I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down.

I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.

I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom -

I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.

I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.

I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.

I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom -

I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,

the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,

before I was a Mom.

Not the Wicked Witch

After my post yesterday I thought I should post that I am much better, ( special thanks to the friends that checked in on me!) I got a little more sleep and some Aleve and things are looking up today : ) I Am NOT the Wicked Witch, although If I HAD to be one, I would LOVE to be Elphaba.
(that being said) A few weeks ago, I made a new music mix CD and I put a few
Wicked songs on there. Miss M tuned right into those and since then we have been listening to the Wicked sound track pretty much NON STOP! (to my delight!) Tonight on our commute home from my job we were listening to it full blast and I looked in my rear view mirror and saw this almost 4 year old belting out the songs. I wish I could put down all the thoughts that ran through my mind, but I think my favorite one was how THRILLED I am to have my daughter have a love of music (kind of impossible in this household) and that she loves ALL kinds of music - now I am thinking of all the musicals we can share together! And I want to take her to see Wicked so so bad!! Especially because I KNOW she will LOVE IT!! And Maybe someday Miss M will be in musicals and... well you see I had a lot of thoughts running in my head, but I think she would make a pretty cute Witch!

Do you have a favorite musical?

The Ugly PMS Beast

I am not sure what is wrong with me - but I have this ugly beast raging inside of me and really I want a reason to rip someones head off. Seriously! This is SO NOT me, I usually don't feel this UGLY, but for some reason today, it's just a BAD day! I loath PMS!!!
I am sure Miss M would like her Mom back, not this MOMSTER that has taken over and snaps at EVERYTHING...EVERYTHING!

Thanks for listening Bloggy friends!
Do you have any cure for PMS!?!?!

Mothers Week

In honor of mothers week, I thought I would add another Quote this one is from Julie Beck

When mothers know who they are and who God is and have made covenants with Him, they will have great power and influence for good on their children.
~Julie B. Beck

Primary Prayer

Today Miss M gave the opening prayer in Primary - she did a GREAT job! No help, used a loud voice, and even blessed that "all of the primary kids would be good teachers to their teachers." I know she was trying to say that the kids would be good listeners for their teachers, but then I thought about it - really it is the kids that teach us! I have so many wonderful memories of the teaching that children did to me when I was in serving in primary. Good job Miss M on your prayer!

We Heart Dr. Andy

Miss A had her follow up appointment today, and I am happy to report that she is much better, and there appears to be no sign of asthma! Her lungs are clear and the raspy Darth Vader sounds I am hearing are nothing to be concerned about... We are so glad to have a great pediatrician, and really we love him so much I recommend him to all my friends that move into this area and are looking for a pediatrician (I should get some sort of percentage for all the recommends I make now that I think about it!) Why we really like this pediatrician - he doesn't make me feel bad for being a psychotic mommy, even If I am sometimes, he is funny, makes the children feel at ease, calls you to see how the kids are doing, and he has a ton of energy! And Dr. Andy, if you do read this, I totally forgive you for calling me stupid today - and well, the other word you said : )!!!
