S is for SURPRISE party!!

For Spring Break I packed up the kids and headed to the exotic Island of Naperville, IL to visit the grand-parents. And it so happened to be my BIRTHDAY and who wouldn't want to be at their mom's to be spoiled? The only downside is the Mr. and my Sister could NOT be there. Because they both had ALREADY had their spring break so they had school AND work BOO! BUT they surprised me by driving down to the 'hood to celebrate MY DAY.  WOOT WOOT! AND the best part I HAD NO IDEA!

At about 2am I started getting these text messages
"Happy Birthday"
"TO YOU"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY"
"TO YOU"
"YOU LOOK LIKE A MONKEY"
"AND you SMELL like on TOO!"

I thought, oh how sweet, they are waking me up to text me happy birthday.
While this is going on, I can hear some stuff upstairs, and I shake Miss M (who is in bed next to me)
"Miss M, Miss M, do you hear that?"
"what, no, MOMMMM, go back to bed!"
"No really, do you want to come upstairs with me to see if someone is upstairs?"
"NO GO TO BED mom, there is nothing upstairs!"
She turns over goes back to bed... (yes, I know I am SO brave, have to shake my 6 year old awake to come to check out the house!)

 THEN I get a text...
"KNOCK KNOCK"
"WHO'S THERE?"
"HEY, when did Mom start locking her garage door?"

WHAT!?!?!? They were here! In the exotic neighborhood of Naperville, for me, for my birthday!!

What a wonderful HUBS and SISTER I have!

THEN, as if that wasn't awesome enough...I woke up to THIS....

Lovn' me some BED HEAD!
But the big hugs from Lil' G THE BEST!

Kisses and a lei

Miss A - hey, come on lets eat!
 Happy Birthday To MOMMY

 DIG IN!

Surprise BIG boy bed for Lil' G!

 YUMM-O! FIVE GUYS for LUNCH!

and to end my fun day - I got to meet Brandon Mull the author of Fablehaven, Candy Shop War, Beyonders. LOVE his books! And SO fun to meet him and talk with him.
(my mom's husband took Miss M and Miss A to see the movie Hop so I didn't have to "drag" my kids along)

 "WHAT it's Rebekeh's Birthday!"

and because we have a mutual friend...I got an EXTRA special autograph!

      Happy Mother's Day

Thanks Miss M and Miss A - for giving me my favorite title - MOM!

To all the Mom's, Grandma's, Aunties, Girls, Friends, Women, Sisters in my life, I hope you know how special you are! Happy Mother's day.

I have heard this poem a lot, but thought I would post it, I just love it!!

      Before I was a Mom

I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.

I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.

      I never thought about immunizations.

      Before I was a Mom -

I had never been puked on.

      Pooped on.

      Chewed on.

      Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.

      I slept all night.

      Before I was a Mom

I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.

      Or give shots.

I never looked into teary eyes and cried.

I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

      Before I was a Mom

I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down.

I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.

I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

      Before I was a Mom -

I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.

I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.

I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.

I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

      Before I was a Mom -

I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,

the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,

      before I was a Mom.
